While fish or small mammals may be harder to catch than wild flowers or berries, you can almost always eat an animal. Most survival kits have a fishing hook and a section of line included with them. Some fishing line and a hook are a very versatile tool for any survival kit. Not only can it be used for catching fish, but it can also be used to stitch clothes or even stitch up small to medium sized cuts. When you are trying to catch a fish for eating try to find worms or lizards or any small insect that you can put on the hook. Another way to catch an animal to eat is by using a snare, though they are illegal to use in many states if your survival is at risk a couple hundred dollar fine wouldn't stop you from using one. Snares are placed at entrances or pathways that animals use. As well, a soup can with the top cut into an X and folded in works great for catching small animals such as rabbits or squirrels.
