Each year students from Central Elementary School (Grades K-3) and Head Start come to Wartburg Central High School's outdoor classroom. Working with the high school's Ecology and Environmental Science students, the children are taught how to be friendly to their environment. They have an opportunity to view local wildflowers along the various nature trails and to fish at student maintained pond in the outdoor classroom.
Taking advantage of over 30 acres of land, much of it wooded forests, on the rear of the Central High School property, Environmental Science and Ecology students develop nature trails and identify a wide variety of wildflowers. They also conduct tours of the area for nearby elementary students.
Elementary students from Mrs. Brewer's and Mrs. West's third grade classes visited the Outdoor Classroom in May 2000. Students wrote thank you letters to Dallas Davis and his classes.
