Read Across America

Read Across America is a literary celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday on or around March 2nd.

Members of the community visit classrooms to promote literacy. High school students visit middle school and elementary classrooms to read to younger students. Teachers are also encouraged to read a variety of to each of their classes.

In 2005, CHS students Trey Daugherty and Tabitha Smith visited the new Central Middle School to read to Mrs. Redmon's eight grade english class. Teachers read a variety of books and poems to their respective classes. The day was also celebrated at the monthly Volunteer State Book Breakfast in the library.
