In 2002-2003, the Board of Directors set a goal to find funds to provide more scholarships to graduating seniors. Previously, three $500-scholarships had been awarded through the Renaissance Foundation.
The number of scholarships has multiplied annually and at the end of last school year, the Board of Directors was honored to present nine $500-scholarships to the members of the Class of 2005l
Students are eligible for scholarships through the Renaissance Foundation if they meet the academic criteria to hold a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Card. Students compete for the scholarships by completing an application and writing an essay explaining their goals for the future and what the scholarship would mean to them.
A committee made up of members of the Board and staff from the school make the selection and award the scholarships. Some donors choose to support students entering a particular area of study such as nursing or teaching. In such cases the committee follows the directive of the donor. Donors are also welcome to review the applications and participate in the selection.
Gifts to the Renaissance Foundation Scholarship fund are tax deductable (as is any gift to the Foundation) and will be awarded to some deserving member of the graduating class. You may establish a scholarship in honor or in memory of someone for a minimal amount of $500.
Proceeds from the scholarships are paid directly to the college/school.
The Foundation continues to hold its annual academic banquet recognizing students for achievement in the classroom. An awards assembly is also held each semester to award the Renaissance Cards.
