Story by Joshua Uribe
The Spring 2008 Renaissance Program was held Thursday, January 24, 2008, in the school gymnasium. This program is to reward students for the good grades they have received during Fall semester. Wartburg Central High has been associated with the Renaissance Program for 18 years.
There were 181 cards awarded at the assembly. Ninety-eight students made all A's last semester and were awarded a gold card. Forty-two silver cards awarded to students that made three A's and one B. The 41 bronze card members made two A's and two B's on their grade card. In addition to good grades, students must meet attendance and discipline standards to be designated as a cardholder.
Many people in the community support the Renaissance Program with monetary donations. Other businesses provide perks to Renaissance students in the form of coupons for free food or other products. In addition, drawings are held at school to distribute prizes that have been donated by businesses and community members. We hope that we will have more students making Renaissance next semester. We encourage all students to "go for the gold" when in school.
