Plateau Electric Cooperative sponsors an annual short story contest to all service area high school juniors. All students write on the same theme in that particular school year. This year's theme was "Electric Cooperatives: Energizing our Communities".
Linda Lay, Plateau Electric Director of Communications, complimented the students and teachers saying, "This year we had great short stories. Our judge had a difficult time choosing the winners for each school. We know at the cooperative the short story contest would not be possible without the help and cooperation from local school officials and high school junior English teachers."
This year's CHS winners are: Lauren Byrd -- 1st place and a trip to Washington, D.C.; Dustin Bonham, 1st runner-up, $100; and Courtney Melhorn, 2nd runner-up, $75. Special thanks to Mrs. Alyssa Sharp for working with her students to create quality submissions for the contest.
