WCHS Attends Envirothon

 

The WCHS envirothon team attented the Cumberland Mountain
RC&D 7th annual Regional Envirothon on Tuesday April, 11. Teams from 12 teams from area high schools participated in the event. The schools competing were Anderson County Technical Center, Clinton High Scool, Campbell County High School, Wartburg Central High School, and Oneida High School.
The WCHS team placed sixth in this year's competition. The student teams competed in areas of forestry, aquatics, wildlife, soils, and a special topic of water stewardship in a changing enviroment.

The Envirothon's purpose is to promote greater awarness of natural reasources and to heighten students' understanding of the intrerelationship between plants animals, humans and the enviroment we share. The competition provides students with experience in eviromental activities to enable the to become environmentally-aware, action oriented students.

WCHS Envirothon team members consisted of Brandon Lester, Sara Lavender, Jodi Cox, Jeremiah Heidle, and Chad Sills.
