Christmas Time is Here

Christmas ornamentMuch like the ever-popular Charlie Brown Christmas song, Christmas time is indeed here in the crowded halls of CHS. Students and faculty alike are ready for the hot chocolate, presents, trees, and of course, the mistletoe.

However, and much to the student's dismay, before there can be time to cherish and adore the ever-loved Christmas holiday, final exams are standing in the way like a green green Grinch standing between a child-like Cindy Lou Who and an adorned, glistening Christmas tree.

Even though there are the lovely yet horrid finals staring us blatantly in the face, Christmas time is still here. Evidence of this is seen in the front office where the appropriately colored blue and white Christmas tree is standing proudly in the window. Santa-Claus like handbags, greeting cards, and bunches of candy are floating down the halls here at CHS. Oh, and let us not forget the joyful sounds of Mrs. Cross's Christmas music floating daintily throughout the classroom that began (quite) early in November. Without these simple things, Christmas would just not be the same here at Central High.

Yes, Christmas time is indeed here. The basketball games, cramming for finals, and Christmas decorations are all a part of this. Yet, are the students ready to leave? Junior Allison Olmstead excitedly states, "Yes! I am ready for Christmas Christmas lightbreak so I can go home and spend time with my family and 'wonderful' little sisters." Other students are doing some wishful thinking for a white Christmas this year. In fact, the last time Wartburg scholars have seen a white Christmas was in the year 2002. "It was like walking in a winter wonderland," says an annonymous junior. "My older brother made a snowman. It was really hilarious! He made it look like it was smoking a cigar." Hopefully Central High students will see a glistening bright white Christmas once more.

In the words of a wise Elvis Presley, "May your days be merry and bright, and may all your Christmases be white," and happy holidays to all!
