Story by Judy Cross
The Academic Banquet is an annual event sponsored by the Renaissance Foundation. Initiated in 1994, this event honors students who were nominated by their teachers. Students should exhibit not only an aptitude for the subject in which they were nominated but a positive attitude and willingness to learn and “above and beyond.”
Students and their parents enjoy a delicious meal prior to the award presentations. Plaques and trophies are presented to the students by the teacher who nominated them. Annually 60-85 students are recognized for this prestigious award.
This year’s Academic Banquet is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, beginning at 6 p.m. The list of invited students is posted on the front bulletin board.
