Scholarships and Deadlines:

2008 Labor Essay Contest

Win up to $1,200 in an essay contest. You must address the topic, "What Organized Labor Means to Me." Deadline: April 11, 2008. See Miss McPeters for the application.

Big Sun Scholarship

The Big Sun Organization is proud to helpyoun ATHLETES succeed in their academic pursuits. They are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student atthletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in. The amount is $500. Go to http://www.sae.org/students/engschir.htm to apply. Essay Required. Deadline: June 20, 2008

Body By Milk Scholarship-"SAMMY"

This scholarship is from the "Got Milk?" campaign. This award recognizes outstanding cholar athletes in grade 12. There will be 25 winners nationwide who will each reacieve: a $7,500 college scholarship, weekend at Disney world in June, and an opporutnity to be pictured in a special congratulatory Milk Mustache ad in June 2008. The deadline to apply is March 7, 2008.Applications will only be accepted online at bodybymilk.com

ETSU Basler Incentive Scholarship

For students majoring in Engineering Technology. The scholarship is unique in that the primary criteria for eligibility is not academic acheivement but rather student's desire and motivation for complete personal goals and definite financial need. See Ms. McPeters for details.

Hampton Memorial Scholarship Foundation Award

$1500, Must have financial need. Applicatnts should be in top 10% of the class and have an Expected Family Contribution on the Student Aid Report less than $18,000. Deadline: March 31

Highland Telephone Cooperative Scholarship

Subit a 500-word, double-spaced essay on the topic of TECHNOLOGY FOR TELECOMMUNICATIONS. Award is $1,000. Deadline: March 14, at 5 P.M.

John R. Dillon Scholarship

For RSCC only. A 3.0 BPA is required. See Ms. McPeters for applications. Deadline: April 14

Methodist Medical Center Volunteer Organization Scholarship

Applicant Requirements: Graduating seniors planning a healthcare career, Accepted at an accredited colleg, Provide: Personal letter of Objectives, ACT scores, High School Transcript showing GPA, Two letters of recommendation, College acceptance letter, MMC scholarship application- see Ms. McPeters for forms.
Amount $1000 for a maximum of 2 yrs. Deadline: March 28

Mitsui USA Scholarship in Tennessee

Mitsui awards $2500 for globally-minded seniors who plan to enroll in a 4 year public college or university in Tennessee. Go to the website for details: www.jastn.com. Deadline: May 1

MTSU Biology Scholorship (4)

2/$1500, 1/$1000, 1/$500. Winners chosen on the basis of a competitive exam given at 1:00 PM oon Thursday, April 3, 2008, Davis Science Bldg. Contestants are requested to register by calling the BioDept at 615-898-2847 between 8AM & 4:30 PM any weekday or by return mail.

Robert C. Byrd Scholarship

The Robert C. Byrd requires a 3.5 GPA or a 3.0GPA & 24 ACT. Deadline: is March 1^st. Go to www.collegepaystn.com and the applications are on that website. Ned McWherter must stay in state and the Byrd can be used out of state.

Suntrust Off To College Scholarship Sweepstakes

1,000 scholarship drawings every two weeks from Oct. 31 - May 15.

Tennessee Hope Scholarships

Students are required to have a 3.0 GPA or an ACT score of 21 to qualify. Amounts are now $4,000 for a four year school and 2,000 for a community college. Wilder-Naifeh Skills Grants are $2,000 not to exceed cost of attendance.

Tennessee Technology Center Scholarships

Harriman - Director's Scholarship award - a 2.5 GPA is required. Plan to enter as a full-time student for the summer or fall term. Amount: $500. Deadline: April 15

Crossville - A 3.0 GPA is required. Plan to enter by the fall trimester. Fifteen full tuition awards will be made to graduating seniors. Deadline: April 16

University of Memphis Valedictorian Scholarship

The award is $5500 per year for 4 years contingent upon maintenance of required scholarship criteria. This is in addition to any HOPE Lottery scholarship.

Unicorn Fund Scholarship

Applications are available in the guidance office. They are open to students attending college or vocational school. Deadline, April 25.

Tennessee Student Assistance corporation

state financial aid agency. They have infomation on scholarships, loans & grants. On the web at www.CollegePaysTN.com
