My Place, Your Place, Our Place Grant

What is My Place, Your Place, Our Place?

My place,Your place, Our Place is funded as an academic project, but it is also a project about "regular people"- students, educators, and community members - and the places they call home. In academic terminology, My Place, Your Place, Our Place can be explained as a curriculum and instruction designed to expand the scope of the Place Bases Learning Model from local to global, or internationalization of curriculum through the process of practical, comparative learning within intercultural Learning Communities.

In just plain-people terms, MYOPlace can be explained as a way for students to learn that, in My Place (a student's neighborhood) and students in Your Place (a single neighborhood in one foreign country), have many important similarities and diffrences. That opens up the possibility that all of the people in Our Place, the world we all call home, are real and valuable. It raises the hope that we can all learn how to live and work respectfully and productively together.
