Courses - Desktop Publishing
Desktop Publishing will build upon the computer skills learned in Computer Applications. Students will be expected to use “touch typing” on a computer keyboard. Proper form and technique will continue to be emphasized as speed and accuracy are further developed.
Students will spend time in practice to attain acceptable speeds on timed speed tests. They will be expected to produce a variety of academic, business, and personal documents in a timely manner Intermediate and advanced word processing and formatting commands will be introduced using MS Word 2007 software. Students will be expected to develop proficiency in document preparation. Emphasis will be on document design and layout as students complete various integrated projects.
Proper design skills will be emphasized as students learn various desktop publishing techniques. Desktop Publishing is one of the courses included in the Interactive Multimedia program of study in the Information Technology Career Cluster. Other courses in this program include Computer Applications, Interactive Multimedia Presentations, and Integrated Input Technology.
Students will be using computers running Windows XP on a Microsoft computer network using a variety of MS Office 2007 software applications.
