Courses - Accounting I/Excel Spreadsheet
Accounting I/Excel Spreadsheet will introduce students to the accounting cycle using double-entry accounting. Excel spreadsheets will be used to prepare basic financial statements.
Prerequisites include completion of Computer Applications emphasizing strong keyboarding skills and basic knowledge of the Windows operating system and of a word processor including file management and basic formatting skills.
Students will become familiar with accounting terminology as they learn the fundamentals of accounting for a service business, a merchandising business, and a corporation. Multi-column journals will be used to post transactions to general and subsidiary ledgers.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will have earned two of the four courses required in the Accounting program of study (Computer Applications, Accounting I, Accounting II, and Business Management) in the Information Technology Career Cluster.
