Brushy Mountain

A Correctional Complex built in 1896, Brushy Mountain State penitentry is a main employer in the county. Housing many convicts, one of which was James Earl Ray, the complex is a historical site.

Coalfield

Coalfield is a small community to the far east in Morgan County that takes great pride in their town and history.

Frozen Head State Park

Frozen Head is a beutiful state park that covers almost 12,000 acres of forest. Hiking and other outdoor activities are offered in the beautiful serenity of the park.

Historic Rugby

Rugby is a rural English colony that was founded by author Thomas Hughes in the 1880's. Four of seventeen original buildings are still open to the public. Rugby serves as a tourist attraction of old-world charm.

Joyner

Located along Highway 62, Joyner is a small community that consists of several community establishments and provides residents with a safe, peaceful place to live.

Lancing

The rural beauty of Morgan County is picturesquely evident in the Lancing area. Between Wartburg and Crossville, Lancing is full of beautiful views and scenic oppurtunities.

Mossy Grove

Mainly a residential area, Mossy Grove lies along Highway 27 between Wartburg and Harriman.

Oakdale

Oakdale was once an active rail road center. A vibrant town existed for years as rail road operations ran through the area. Today, the area is a quiet, small town. However, the trains still run through, reminding everyone of the rich heritage.

Obed Wild and Scenic River

A wilderness area protected by the National Parks Service, Obed Wild and Scenic River is popular with nature and white water enthusiasts.

Petros

Petros is a small town in the eastern part of the county consisting of a close-knit community and classic small town atmosphere.

Sunbright

Sunbright is a beutiful community in the western part of the county. A strong sense of community is evident in the people of the Sunbright area.

Wartburg

The town of Wartburg is the county seat of Morgan County and is the county's central place of government, economic, and social affairs.
