Community Service
Each Anchor Club, in accordance with the needs of their respective communities, chooses service projects. Like Pilot Club projects, many Anchor Club service programs involve increasing the awareness of, and helping those affected by, brain-related disorders. Anchor Clubs and their sponsoring Pilot clubs often perform special projects in cooperation with each other. The Morgan County Club has provided projects such as: fundraisers, The Alzheimer's memory walk, a coat drive, Operation Christmas Child, helping at Parent - Teacher Conferences, and many more.
Operation Christmas Child
The Anchor Club participates in Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes. In 2007, the students collected enough toys and boxes to send 30 shoe boxes overseas. We also worked with the Beta Club this year. They donated boxes, items and actually helped pack them with us. The Morgan County Anchor Club works with their Sponsoring Pilot Club of Anderson County on this project. The Pilot Club usually donates money to help with the cost of shipping and handling.
Anchor Club of the Year
The CHS Anchor Club chapter was named the Anchor Club of the Year for 2004-2005 in the state of Tennessee. The Club submitted a yearbook and scrapbook and were judged on participation and membership, service projects, joint service projects with a Pilot Club, and the club's scrapbook.
Canned Yams
During December 2007, the Anchor Club once again teamed up with the CHS Beta Club to donate canned Yams to the Storehouse Ministries. Over 25 large cans were donated and packed in boxes for christmas dinners for families in need.
Anchor Club Scrapbook
During January and February 2008, Brett Lamance (president) worked on the Anchor Club scrapbook. Memories and pictures from each of their events are collected and placed into their scrapbook.
