Story by Stacey Galloway
The 2007 Textiles & Apparel class recently joined New York Avenue Church of Christ in the “Lil’ Dress Ministry.” The 25 dresses that the class made were added to the more than 300 that were sent to orphanages in Malawi, Africa.
The students demonstrated basic sewing skills in their first major project of the semester. Some students made the dresses out of old pillow cases and used binding for the straps so the children can put them on easily. Other students used left over fabric pieces to make the dresses.
This is just one of many projects to come from the Textiles and Apparel class this semester.
